Social Dialogue #26 – call for articles
Black Lives Matter: developments in de-colonising social work

The proposal for this special edition of Social Dialogue is from members of SWEARN (Social Work Education Anti-Racist Network), an established network of academics and leaders from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland committed to the development of global understandings of anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice framed within a post-colonial set of standards based on global conventions and ideas.
The call for papers asks authors from across the globe to focus on a meaning of decolonisation in a global context which promotes a social work curriculum independent of colonial influences. Authors are asked to put forward proposals rooted in action-based responses to areas such as:
- Equality gaps
- The student’s voice
- Transparency and engagement
- Professional coherence and consistency
- Organisational barriers, structures and systems
- Research methodologies
In response to this call for articles, we invite everyone to write a:
Article of 2000 words (including references) or
Research paper (2000words, including references) or Stories or offer other contributions that addresses the theme
