Reclaiming the ‘Social’ in Social Work.
Dates: Thursday 23 June – Friday 24 June 2022 (inclusive).
Venue: Leeds Beckett University, The Rose Bowl, Portland Crescent, Leeds, England. LS1 3HB.
The conference is open to all social worker practitioners, academics, researchers, policymakers, students, people who use services, including carers, interested in sharing, discussing, and developing the social work profession.
Keynote Speakers include Kerry Hudson, an award-winning author, will draw on her own experiences on growing up in poverty and the key lessons learned. Hári Sewell brings his experience of working in the health service and his specialist area of social justice, equalities and ethnicity, race and culture in mental health. Davy Hayes will talk on ‘the troubles’ in Northern Ireland and the wider global lessons for social work and other professionals.
The Workshops themes ensure we have contemporary, highly relevant opportunities for presentations. Themes include: Food insecurities; Drugs & alcohol; Gambling; Gang violence; Mental health, International SW; Reclaiming the Streets; Black Lives Matters; The marketisation of education & practice; Gypsy, Roma Traveller communities
