A Global Celebration of Social Work and Social Development
The SWSD2024 conference in Panama wrapped up on a high note on April 7th, 2024. This week-long event marked a significant step towards a more just and inclusive world. Over 1,500 social work professionals from 81 countries across five continents came together, furled by a shared vision of promoting social justice for all. The conference theme, “Respecting Diversity Through Joint Social Action,” emphasized the importance of collaboration and understanding in achieving this goal.
A Week of Sharing Knowledge and Experiences
The conference wasn’t just about big picture ideas. It provided a vibrant platform for social workers to exchange knowledge and experiences. Workshops, poster sessions, keynote addresses, and paper presentations fostered a spirit of inclusivity and mutual learning. This exchange of ideas will undoubtedly contribute to ongoing efforts to create a better future.
The Baton Passes to Kenya
As the Panama conference comes to a close, the excitement builds for the next SWSD conference in 2026! Kenya will take center stage, hosting the event from June 26th to 29th, 2026. The Kenya National Association of Social Workers has enthusiastically extended a warm welcome to all participants, saying “Karibu Kenya” (Welcome to Kenya)! We can all look forward to continuing the vital work of building a more just and equitable world together in Kenya.
