Call for articles for the Cadernos GEPE Journal

The Cadernos GEPE journal invites researchers, academics and practitioners in Social Work areas to submit articles for its next edition. Published annually, the journal is a scholarly organ of the Ethics Study and Research Group (GEPE) of UFPE, whose central focus is ethics in Social Work, with a close look at the theoretical and practical implications of this area in national and international contexts. The Cadernos GEPE Review is hosted on the Periodicals Portal of the Federal University of Pernambuco – UFPE, Brazil, and can be accessed at the following link:

Theme:

The next issue of Cadernos GEPE (no. 4) will focus its discussions on three specific themes: 

– Theory, Practice and Research in Brazilian and Italian Social Work;

– Theory, Practice and Research in International Social Work; 

– The importance of international dialogue in the discussion of expressions of the social question;

– Inequalities, human rights in the world and the transformations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic on the profession;

– Ancillary themes of social action and research.

It is recommended that articles include ethical reflections and explore aspects of the authors’ academic and professional experiences, always relating approaches to aspects of research, teaching, epistemology and professional practice. In addition, this issue of the journal also seeks contributions that critically and innovatively address emerging ethical issues, with a focus on inequality and human rights.

Submission criteria:

– Languages accepted: Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, French and English.

– Format: the journal is published in online format and is accessible through the portal https://periodicos.ufpe.br/revistas/index.php/cadernosgepe/issue/archive.

– Submission guidelines: articles must contain between 20,000 and 40,000 characters (including spaces), using the citation style ABNT (for texts in Portuguese) or APA (for texts in other languages). A summary in the original language and in English of a maximum of 250 words must be included. The text must follow the rules set out in the Guidelines for Authors available on the journal’s website.

– Evaluation criteria: Articles will be evaluated on the basis of their relevance to the theme of the journal, relevance of the topics, topicality of the literature, clarity of objectives, methodological rigour, structure and formal correctness.

Deadline for submission: 15 October 2024.

– Important dates: Notice of acceptance or rejection will be sent by 15 November 2024. The deadline for revisions is 30 November 2024 and publication is scheduled for 20 December 2024.

Submission process:

Articles must be submitted via the journal’s online system (link: https://periodicos.ufpe.br/revistas/index.php/cadernosgepe/submissions) by the deadline indicated on the portal. 

You must register on the portal in order to submit articles and follow the editorial process. The Cadernos GEPE journal adopts a double-blind evaluation system, which ensures higher quality in the selection of articles for publication.

Access and publication policy:

The Cadernos GEPE Journal adopts an open access policy, making all its content freely available, with the aim of democratising scientific knowledge. Copyright remains with the authors, who grant the journal permission to publish and distribute their work.

History and impact of the journal:

Since its launch in 2019, Cadernos GEPE has established itself as a key vehicle for ethical debate in Social Work, expanding its international influence. With previous editions exploring crucial issues in the profession, the journal continues to contribute significantly to the evolution of research and ethical discussion in Social Work, from a theoretical and practical perspective.
