Katherine A. Kendall Memorial Award 2026: Nominations date extended by 31st October 2024

Nominations are called for the Prestigious Katherine A. Kendall Memorial Award for distinguished contribution to the development of social work education internationally. The nominee can come from any region of the world and may or may not be a member of IASSW. Nominations should be submitted to the chair of the Committee Halaevalu Vakalahi by 31st October 2024 via hvakalahi@cswe.org and copied to IASSW secretary Janestic Twikirize janestic@iassw-aiets.org

Criteria for the Katherine A. Kendall Award:
The award has been established to recognize distinguished international contributions
to social work education. The nominee should therefore meet as much of the following
criteria as possible:

  1. Individuals who are previous award winners (Eileen Younghusband Award or
    Katherine Kendall Award) will not be considered for a second award.
  2. Involved in educational activities to promote equality and social justice in all societies.
  3. Researched and produced professional literature of interest and value to social work educators.
  4. Developed curricula that have advanced social work education worldwide.
  5. Involved in or supported innovative educational approaches leading to
  6. improvement of the quality of social services, approaches that are usable in different
  7. countries as models in teaching social work practice.
  8. Promoted social work education, nationally and regionally, and successful practice
  9. strategies from the fields of social welfare and social development.
  10. Involved in worldwide interpretation of professional education for social work as
  11. essential for preparation of well-qualified social work personnel.

Self-nominations for the Katherine Kendall Award will not be considered.
