IASSW President, Antoinette Lombard, was invited to speak at the ICSW International Conference on Participation, Social Welfare, and Local Administration in Times of AI, held in Ronda, Spain, from April 24–25, 2025.
The Presidents of IASSW, IFSW, and ICSW joined the conference and spoke on the topic: “Participation and Well-Being: Perspectives from the IASSW, the IFSW, and the ICSW.”
As part of a distinguished panel alongside leaders from ICSW and IFSW, Prof. Lombard contributed to a powerful dialogue on how citizen participation, digital transformation, and social welfare intersect in an increasingly AI-driven world.
Prof. Lombard emphasized: The significance of ethics in the use of AI for social good,The importance of inclusive policies that leave no one behind, And the vital role of social work education and global solidarity in shaping a just digital future. Her contribution reaffirmed IASSW’s commitment to advocating for human rights, social justice, and inclusive digital participation in all spheres of society.
The ICSW presented the Ronda Declaration, a widely consulted document. IASSW and IFSW endorsed the Declaration. The dialogue on these topics is highly relevant for ensuring that civil society’s voice is heard in preparation for the World Social Development Summit in November 2025. The event was held in a hybrid format, with many participants joining online.
The second day of the conference focused on discussions around the Ronda Declaration.
