The Latin American Association of Education and Research in social work (ALAEITS, in Spanish) was founded on August 30, 2006 in Santiago, Chile. It is a Latin American and Caribbean Association, aimed to coordinate teaching and research of academic and political nature. The entity of civilian nature, is a non-profit with a limited duration and an itinerant administration site. The administration site is elected in a General Assembly every three years. Puerto Rico is the site from 2015 through 2018. The purpose of the association is to organize, articulate, and suggest strategies to impact the field of professional formation and the production of knowledge in Social Work, to strengthening the Latin American social struggles. ALAEITS brings together professors, researchers and undergraduate and graduate students of Latin American and the Caribbean countries.
IASSW vision is to promote and develop ‘Excellence in social work education, research and scholarship across the globe, in pursuit of a more just and equitable world’.
