Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean leads the strategic direction of the Faculty of Social Work to ensure program and academic excellence, effectively deploy resources and inspire colleagues. As the chief advocate for the Faculty, the Dean is responsible for building meaningful relationships with community partners, government, members of the profession, key stakeholders and donors. You will collaborate with a passionate and accomplished team to build upon best-in-class successes already achieved at the University of Calgary.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a PhD or professional graduate degree and extensive professional experience as well as an academic record commensurate with an appointment with Tenure at the rank of Professor. You will bring a background in social work and will be eligible for registration as a social worker in Alberta. You will have demonstrated excellence in research and scholarship and in post-secondary academic leadership over a minimum of 5 years during previous positions that may include roles such as Associate Dean, Department Head or Institute Director.

Through your established organizational and administrative ability, you will have gained extensive financial and budgeting skills, demonstrated impactful community engagement and proven fund development experience, with a track record of securing funding from
competitive peer reviewed granting agencies and/or donors.
You are a thoughtful and transparent leader who demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with the proven capacity to advocate, influence and motivate across diverse stakeholders.

The University of Calgary’s comprehensive benefits and pension program is designed to promote a productive level of health and well-being to staff members through coverage for health, dental, life insurance, income protection for disability, and retirement income planning. The salary range for this position is $142,000 – $230,000 per annum and will be negotiated based on the candidate’s skills and experience.
