Elections 2024: Candidate Juan Jesus Viscarret Garro

Juan Jesus Viscarret Garro

He was born in Pamplona, Spain, in 1969 and holds a Doctorate in Sociology from the Public University of Navarra (2001). He also earned a degree in Social Work from the University of Zaragoza (1991) and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca (2005). Presently, he serves as a Full Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the Public University of Navarra. Throughout his professional trajectory, he has focused his work on social intervention with immigrants and youth within the field of Social Work. With over 25 years of teaching experience, he has taught courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work, as well as in Master’s programs in Social Intervention. His commitment to research has been notable, as evidenced by his involvement in a total of 54 R&D projects, both at the national level (43) and internationally (9). Additionally, he has authored six books as the principal author and has contributed to collective works published by renowned publishers. Furthermore, he has made numerous contributions in
the form of articles in indexed and specialized journals in the fields of Social Work and Sociology. He has also held various academic leadership positions, including Vice Dean and Program Director of the undergraduate degree program in Social Work. From 2019 to 2023, he was part of the management team of the Spanish University Association of Social Work.
